Please beware of financial fraudsters! <\/span><\/b>(<\/span>\u4e2d\u6587\u66f4\u65b0\u5982\u4e0b)<\/strong><\/p>\n It has been brought to our attention that some students are being targeted with a WeChat scam involving accommodation rental payments. <\/span><\/p>\n Students are being targeted on a WeChat group offering rent payment services with an incentive of a rental discount. The student is asked to transfer their rent minus the discount to the third party, who in turn pays the full amount of rent on behalf of the student, by credit card. A receipt is provided, but this is a scam.<\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n The victims of this crime are finding some weeks later the third party is claiming a chargeback on the credit card payment, which is then reversed by the credit card provider. This payment then returns to being unpaid on the student’s account.<\/span><\/p>\n Has this affected you? <\/span><\/b>
