Fresh Charity Week 2023, in support of YoungMinds UK

At Fresh, wellbeing is a theme that runs through all that we do. During Fresh Charity Week 2023, we focused our efforts on raising funds for partner charity, YoungMinds UK, a charity which champions youth mental health, a cause we are greatly passionate about. We are proud to share that our company-wide charity initiative surpassed all expectations by successfully raising over £1000! This outstanding achievement not only speaks to the spirit of community at Fresh but also reflects the growing recognition of the significance of nurturing the wellbeing of young people and students.

Our charity week spanned over two separate weeks within a two-month period , providing ample opportunity for the Fresh community to come together and make a difference. The primary goal was to generate funds for youth mental health support services and programs conducted by YoungMinds UK. To achieve this, we organised a variety of engaging activities and fun competitions that would encourage active participation while raising financial aid and awareness for youth mental health.

Charity week was a fantastic opportunity for all our Residents' Teams, Residents' and Central Services to get involved. Among the exciting events held during our charity week, the Charity Bingo session at the Lantern and Skyline’s Guess the Bear fundraising competition created an atmosphere of excitement and friendly competition. We also had a bake sale, a charity clothing drive at Calico, and even a charity walk through London’s Green Park!

As the week unfolded, the excitement reached its peak with the Fresh Pub Quiz led by our very own COO Jane Crouch. The Pub Quiz was a culmination of laughter and friendly competition, allowing us to raise additional funds for YoungMinds. Prizes shared included a lifesize Labrador toy who went home with a very excited winner. It was a fitting end to a week filled with meaningful events and activities!

It is important to note the significance of addressing youth mental health concerns. According to recent statistics, approximately 1 in 4 students in the UK experience mental health issues. These challenges can have a profound impact on academic performance, wellbeing, and overall quality of life. By actively supporting mental health initiatives through Fresh Charity Week, we aim to create a positive and nurturing environment for students, promoting their overall success and happiness.

The funds raised during our charity week will be allocated to YoungMinds to develop tailored support systems that address the unique needs of young people. This will contribute to support services, raise awareness, and combat the stigma surrounding mental health.

Fresh remains committed to championing the cause of wellbeing. The funds raised, combined with the passion and momentum generated by this event, will undoubtedly further the lasting impact that YoungMinds charity is making in this vital area.

As we move forward, Fresh will continue to cultivate an environment of care, support, and resilience for students. By prioritizing mental health and wellbeing, we are investing in the future success and happiness of our student community!
