Liverpool is home to several well-known universities and has a reputation as a friendly and affordable student city. If you’ve just moved into your Liverpool apartment and you’re wondering where to start exploring your new surroundings, here are some fun activities in and around the city to get you going.
 

Relax in the Park

  There are so many beautiful green spaces to enjoy for free in Liverpool. Take a stroll around Sefton Park and visit the Palm House, discover the riverside wildlife along Otterspool Promenade, or walk around the picturesque pagodas in the Festival Gardens. Liverpool’s parks offer great study-break spots for those who need a breather; they’re also ideal for picnics or ice cream dates in the sun.
 

Meet the Beatles

  Liverpool is famous as the home of the “Fab Four”, and there’s a statue on the waterfront honouring the iconic band. Visit this Liverpool landmark and pose for a selfie with the lads. Liverpool has a vibrant music scene to this day, with a variety of live music venues around the city.

  Liverpool One is a major shopping complex in the city, home to all your favourite high street brands. There’s also an Odeon cinema with a gallery that offers excellent views of the docks and the city – not to mention bottomless popcorn. During the festive season, shoppers will enjoy bustling Christmas markets and a karaoke bar, with a huge dazzling Christmas tree in the background. This is the perfect place to snag those Christmas prezzies for your family before you head home for the holidays.
 

Soak Up the Culture

  There are some fascinating museums in the city that you can explore for free, including the Museum of Liverpool and the Merseyside Maritime Museum. The Open Eye Gallery and the Walker Art Gallery are also great places to get your culture fix.

  If you feel like something a little more informal though, hit the city streets and take in some of Liverpool’s iconic street art and sculptures. You’ll find the famous “Liver Bird Wings” on Jamaica Street, and several Superlambananas (from Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2008) dotted around the city.
 

Enjoy the Beaches

  Beaches like Formby, Crosby and New Brighton are all within easy distance of Liverpool. Take a short train journey and enjoy a day out at a nearby beach, complete with golden sandy dunes and Instagrammable sunsets.
 

Join Your Fellow Football Fans

  As home to the Liverpool and Everton football clubs, the city also has a vibrant sports scene. Wave your flag at a local live match, or take a stadium tour to find out more about local footie legends.
