In the Viaduct area, there are plenty of local pubs and shops, and the location is close to the train station. It’s also just 15 minutes’ walk from the science site and Elvet Riverside.

Claypath

This central location is an easy distance from the Old Elvet and Elvet Riverside lecture halls. The Claypath road runs from the centre of the city through to the roundabout close to the college of St Hild and St Bede. There are a couple of major local pubs, as well as Durham Market Hall and Tesco.
 

Gilesgate

Located at the end of Claypath, Gilesgate has a variety of local shops in the area and is just a 5 minutes’ bus ride from most other amenities.
 

Church Street

This road runs between the science site and the centre of Durham. It’s another location close to the Elvet Riverside lecture halls. The Court Inn and the Victoria Inn Hotel are close by, so you’ll always have a nice local spot to stop for a pint.
